Background Story of Panchavati:

The Panchavati began in the year 1989 during summer holidays. Swami was getting immersed in Meditation in this Panchavati area. Sri Narashima Murthy (Murthy Anna) was the secretary of Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Institution, who was very highly interested to develop a Spiritual centre here. One day he suggested Swami “Let us begin a Panchavati for Spiritual Aspirants. I will go to white field & send a picture of the ancient Panchavati getting from Bhramapurana & other scripts”.

Within a few days he sent a figure of Panchavati, it had a Meditation alter at the centre and 5 plants around it, at a radius of 45 feet. One day Srinivas Murthy the principal & other aspirants came to this place & marked the places of plants & these plants were collected & after few days they were planted. That day onwards the place was called as Panchavati. A boy called Nandisha who was offering services in the Institution looked after these plants by pouring water, manure etc. Swami began to meditate daily sitting on this alter in the evening from 4 PM onwards.
